Job Overview
UNICEF is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Deputy Representative Operations (P-5), Temporary to support effective programme delivery and operational management.
The position provides senior-level leadership in operations and contributes to ensuring that UNICEF resources, systems and administrative functions are managed efficiently, transparently and in accordance with organizational policies.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, programme teams and operational colleagues to strengthen organizational performance and support UNICEF's work for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of operational functions.
- Support the effective management of human, financial and administrative resources.
- Ensure compliance with UNICEF policies, procedures and operational standards.
- Strengthen internal controls, risk management and accountability mechanisms.
- Provide advice to senior management on operational and administrative matters.
- Support planning, budgeting and effective use of organizational resources.
- Coordinate with programme and operations teams to improve efficiency.
- Contribute to business continuity, security and emergency preparedness where required.
- Supervise, guide and develop operations personnel.
- Promote innovation, efficiency and effective use of technology in operations.
- Support partnerships and coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare operational analyses, reports and recommendations for management.
- Ensure that operations contribute effectively to UNICEF's results for children.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should normally have:
- An advanced university degree in business administration, public administration, finance, economics, management, or another relevant field.
- Extensive professional experience in operations, administration, management or a related area.
- Significant experience in an international organization, government institution, NGO or comparable environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and people-management experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial, administrative and human-resource management systems.
- Experience working in complex or multicultural environments.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
