About the Role

The Team Lead, Agriculture will play an important leadership role in driving UBA Tanzania's Corporate and Commercial Banking business within the agriculture sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving business targets, expanding the agriculture portfolio, developing strong client relationships and identifying profitable opportunities within Tanzania's agricultural and agribusiness value chains.

The position requires a commercially minded professional who can understand customers' financial needs, recommend appropriate banking solutions and build sustainable relationships with corporate and commercial clients. The role also involves providing effective leadership and developing a high-performing relationship management team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Drive acquisition of corporate and commercial clients within the Agriculture sector.
  • Manage and strengthen existing client relationships.
  • Identify and develop profitable business opportunities.
  • Support achievement of business growth and revenue targets.
  • Evaluate customer needs and recommend suitable banking products and services.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to Relationship Managers and Officers.
  • Support effective credit and relationship management.
  • Monitor the agriculture portfolio and contribute to sound business decisions.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of banking products, policies and procedures.
  • Build strategic relationships across the agriculture and agribusiness sector.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have a first degree in a business-related field or social sciences discipline from a reputable university. A higher degree, MBA or relevant professional banking certification will be an added advantage.

Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant banking experience, including exposure to the Agriculture sector. Experience in credit and relationship management is required. Strong knowledge of Corporate and Commercial Banking, business development, client acquisition, credit and marketing will be highly valuable.

Key Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership and team-development abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, analytical and reasoning skills, selling and marketing capabilities, attention to detail, computer proficiency and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. The candidate should also be self-driven, proactive and commercially aware.
