Job Overview

POSITION: SENDCo
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) will play an important role in coordinating learning support and promoting an inclusive educational environment for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
The position is suitable for qualified education professionals with relevant experience in learning support, special educational needs and inclusive education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate is expected to:
• Coordinate and support provision for students with additional learning needs.
• Work closely with teachers, students and parents.
• Promote inclusive teaching and learning practices.
• Monitor students' progress and learning-support requirements.
• Contribute to safeguarding and student welfare.
• Help develop an effective and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
The SENDCo will be responsible for coordinating the school's SEND provision and ensuring that appropriate support is available to learners. Key duties may include:
- Identifying and assessing students who may have special educational needs or disabilities.
- Coordinating individualized learning and support plans for students with additional needs.
- Working with teachers to develop effective classroom strategies and differentiated learning approaches.
- Monitoring students' academic, social, emotional, and developmental progress.
- Communicating regularly with parents and caregivers regarding students' needs and progress.
- Collaborating with educational psychologists, therapists, healthcare professionals, and other external specialists when appropriate.
- Advising teachers and school staff on SEND policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Organizing relevant training and professional development for staff.
- Ensuring the school promotes equality, accessibility, safeguarding, and inclusion.
- Supporting the development and implementation of SEND policies and improvement plans.
- Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, guidance, and developments in special educational needs and inclusive education.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should ideally have:
- A relevant teaching, education, special education, psychology, or related qualification.
- Appropriate teaching or professional certification where required.
- Strong knowledge of inclusive education and differentiated teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with parents, teachers, and external professionals.
- The ability to manage confidential information professionally.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
